The Megapanos Winery is an up-to-date wine producing & bottling company. Its premises are situated in Pikermi, in the heart of the wine growing region of Attica just a few kilometers from Athens. Pikermi is situated in the Mesogia, in Attica, where the growing of vines is a heritage from the olden times. The area is known for the cultivation of the noted local Savatiano grape variety, which produces a fresh,light dry white
wine with a fruity
flavour
and a crystal clear colour. The company’s philosophy and aim is to produce wines of excellent quality from the renowned wine producing localities of Attica in particular and of Greece in general.
Alexandros Megapanos, the owner and founder of the company, is an active member of the “Wine Producers’ Union of Attica” and a contributor in other projects aiming to develop the wine production of the region. He was born in Athens in 1960. He studied Biochemical Engeneering in Brussels and specialized
in Fermentation Industries. Then he studied Oenology in Bordeaux. During his studies he worked for various wine makers in France and Greece. In 1990 he started his own company in Spata, Attica, with bottling facilities and an oenological laboratory. In 1997 the company moves to privately owned brand new premises in Pikermi, Attica. The philosophy of the comany is the production oa a limited quantity of excellent quality wines from renowned wine –producing areas of Greece. The aim
iss to especially value the local character of these wines and emphasize the particular characteristics of each year.
The winery is open to visitors daily by prior appointment. It can receive groups of up to 30 people who will be hosted around the winery and the showroom. In the showroom visitors may taste the Megapanos wines and choose from a selection of packaging and presentations for themselves of for gift giving.
In addition the visitors have an extensive list of publications, and a host of wine accesssories of interest to wine lovers to choose from.
For those who are interested in finding out more about the amazing world of wine and wine-making, specialized seminars are offered at the winery. Megapanos Wines hosts a Restaurant of the Month Evening giving wine lovers the opportunity to sample wines from the small specialty winery Alexandros Megapanos runs with his wife Maria. In partnership with several Athenian restaurants, Megapanos wines offers you a chance to gather with friends at these restaurants, sample
the fine cuisine accompanied by a wide range of Megapanos wines.

Getting to Megapanos Winery
The easiest way is to take a taxi from downtown or the airport.
Other places to visit in the area include the Attika Zoological Park, the Temple of Posideon at Cape Sounion, the town of Lavrion
and some of the beaches of Attika. You can even visit the winery on the way to or from the Venizelos International Airport.
You can take the bus No 314 from Akadamias Bus terminal (the University) which will drop you directly at Pikermi. Then you have to walk about 800 m. to the winery. You can also take the metro from anywhere in Athens, to Doukissis Plakentias and from there bus 314 passes as well which will drop you at Pikermi.
Be sure you contact the winery at least a day before you come.
