Though probably not for the faint-hearted, cyclists who live and breath the sport may not find the city as challenging as say, I would. run over after the first five minutes, for those who talk-the-talk, walk-the-walk and wear those colorful shiny riding suits there is a place to rent bikes and equipment at Pame Volta is at 20, Chatzichristou Street in Makrigianni. The phone and fax are 210-922-1578. Open Monday to Sunday, 9:00 to 20:00. Vasilis is the owner and comes from Thessaloniki which is supposedly a much more bicycle friendly city.
Anyway once you get out of Athens the riding is better but BE CAREFUL because many Greek drivers are not.
