Notice the oranges. They are ornamental and not really edible though I suppose you could if you were hungry enough.
There are orange trees all over Athens and during the battles with riot police the nice anarchists throw oranges.
The mean ones throw marble that they have to chip off the fancy hotels and official buildings with hammers.
And the really mean ones throw Molotov cocktails which are really difficult to put together in the heat of battle..
It is much easier to pick an orange and throw it at the heavily armored cops.
If they planted more orange trees there would be less injuries at demonstrations.
Plus they are attractive.
